Peruvian illustrator Vargas grew up surrounded by the inspirational work of La vie Parisienne and became an iconic painter during the 1940s with his pin up imagery inspiring the nose artwork of most American aircraft’s during the war. Vargas created 180 pinup pieces for esquire maagzine over 6 years and later worked for playboy - creating 152 illustrations for their publication from 1959.
