“Walk in beauty. Vaunt they rose. Flaunt this transient loveliness. You will find satisfaction here in all measures.”
Published in 1941 by “London Chapman and Hall”. Original cloth covered boards with cream lettering to front and spine, slight sun-kiss.
32 leaves, each with a monochrome photograph by renowned British erotic Photographer Horace Roye (1906 - 2002) and each with a set of illustrations by Scottish freelance illustrator Arthur Ferrier (1891 - 1973) who was famous for his glamour cartoons.
All of Roye’s pieces (including Eves without leaves) had previously been photographed outside in natural surroundings, this was Roye’s first attempt to create work in a studio environment, and based purely on Ferrier’s “slick and naughty” illustrations.
Some things give you tingles. This was one of those things for me. A fabulous collaborative collection.
